According to Edwin Locke and Gary Latham, pioneers in goal-setting theory, setting specific and challenging yet achievable goals leads to higher performance compared to vague intentions like “I’ll do better.” Goals give us a sense of purpose and create a roadmap for action, which is key to staying engaged as we age.

Not getting adequate sleep can cause short term issues like mental cloudiness, moodiness, and grogginess. For those that suffer from disordered sleep (starting as early as middle age), the long-term symptoms could be much worse.
